Welcome to Year 4
Mr Bates and Mrs Ainsworth would like to welcome you to their awesome class! We are a creative and enthusiastic bunch who love Maths, Art, English and PE the best! We are also learning the ukulele!
Staffing-wise, Mr Bates teaches Monday -Thursday, with Mrs Ainsworth taking over on Fridays! Throughout the week, we’re lucky to have Miss Ellis, Miss Smith and Mrs Sweeney working within our classroom too!
PE kits are to remain in school for the half-term, to ensure that all children partake in our two PE lessons which are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Our new-style yellow home reading book (with English homework) and completed reading books should be brought in on Fridays so that books can be changed.
Maths homework, focusing on calculation, reasoning and problem-solving, will be given out on Thursdays and is due back the following Monday/Tuesday.
Spelling tests are on Thursdays!
This year we went on a trip to Winmarleigh Hall PGL for outdoor education!

Chester Zoo educational visit
As part of our Autumn science topics, Animals including Humans and Living Things, we have organised an educational visit to Chester Zoo.
We will be touring the zoo and taking part in educational workshops on Wednesday 13th December 2017. Further details can be found here
Our school Mission Statement is taken from John 12:36
Believe in the light so that you will be children of the light
Children took the time to think of unique ways in which they can live in the light.
Our class display reminds us that we are all children of the light.
Within our Judaism Come and See topic, we have been looking at the Jewish faith and how the children prepare themselves for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. We made mini-Torah scrolls, once rolled out they reveal the names of the five books of Moses.
We don’t always stay in the classroom for learning to take place, here we are in the hall for an active-maths lesson. We were using the inverse to check and classify calculations on whether they were correct or not.
Children have been budding Van Gogh’s, painting beautiful watercolored images to accompany their poems.
