Level 1- In school support

PHSCE –Personal, Health, Social and Citizenship Education. This is a key element of our curriculum and is delivered to children by Mrs Fillingham (Learning Mentor) and the class teachers.

There is a clear strand which teaches children about their mental health and emotional wellbeing at an appropriate level. An annual wellbeing and anxiety survey will be completed so that target children can work with the Learning Mentor. 

Learning Powers- these are used to teach children how to learn, be resilient and create good ‘learning habits’. They form part of our positive behaviour strategy.

Level 2- In school support

May be for a short, focused period or may be longer term

Children who have been identified by school, home or other agencies as benefiting from more targeted support

Nurture Groups

Friendship activities

Recognising emotions in self and others

One-to-one sessions with Learning Mentor to focus on particular area to develop (may be one off or part of a longer series of sessions)

Behaviour support plan

RAMP (Reducing Anxiety Management Plan- completed between school and home)

Teach strategies to build resilience and enable children to access learning and friendships successfully

Level 3- Outside agencies

May be for a short, focused period or may be longer term

Children who have been identified by school, home or other agencies as benefiting from more targeted support

Supporting our Parents/ Carers

School support for Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health- Parent/ Carers
  What we offer:
For all of our parents/ carers all of the time

Wellbeing Café- half termly with a focus on particular aspect of emotional wellbeing and mental health as well as an opportunity to meet with other parents/ carers and school staff informally

Family Learning courses (variety of topics)

Regular updates on Dojo/ Twitter (ie focus for PHSCE that week in school/ Wellbeing ‘Tip of the Week’ for families)

Regular slot on newsletter

For our parents/ carers with concerns about their child

Open door for you to raise your concerns/ worries with either:

·       Child’s class teacher

·       Learning Mentor – Mrs Fillingham

·       Headteacher- Mrs Lewis

Signposting to useful information/ agencies of required

A plan to support your child in school or through other agencies

Follow up phone calls/ meetings to discuss progress

A robust system to monitor your child’s wellbeing within school

For our parents/ carers with concerns about their own wellbeing or mental health

An open door for you to share your worries in school.

A non-judgemental listening ear

Information/ signposting to practical advice

Enable you to access support if you wish

PHSCE

We have developed a scheme of work for PHSCE (Personal, Health, Social and Citizenship Education) which is delivered by our Learning Mentor, Mrs Fillingham.  The scheme covers areas such as healthy eating, keeping physically healthy, friendships and emotions, mental health and wellbeing.  Please contact school if you would like further information about this.
