Homework

HOMEWORK IS SET WEEKLY

MATHS and GRAMMAR

Maths and Grammar homework is set on Friday and the children return to school the following Thursday.

SPELLINGS

Year 6 key words have been provided to the children.  They will be tested every two weeks to check progression.  The children can choose to learn a set amount (i.e 10) for the next test, or they may decide to practise all of them regularly.

READING

The children have been provided with a Year 6 Reading Record.  They are encouraged to read every night and make an entry into their Reading Record three times a week.  Engaging and stimulating ideas for entries can be found in the front of their Reading Record.

We ask parents to read as often as they can with their child and ask them questions about what they are reading – ideas for questions can also be found in the front of the Reading Record.

Parents are also asked to sign the Reading Record every Friday to celebrate that their child has read regularly that week. This is important as their child knows that both their parents/carer and teacher value their reading.

Mrs Cronin will collect the Reading Records in every Monday and allocate rewards for reading and quality entries.

EXTRA HOMEWORK

Extra homework may be set, as needed, throughout the year.
