Year 2 children using the globes and information text books
The Year 2 children were using the globes and information text books to research facts about the oceans and continents around the world. They then recorded their facts in their mini booklets.
Y4 – Roman Invasion of Britain
Year 4 used websites and information texts to research how life changed for the Celts after the arrival of the Romans in Britain. The children were surprised to learn that before the Romans arrived, people living in Britain were unable to read and write and many of the words we use today originated from Latin, the language introduced by the Romans. The children then used this research to write in the role of a Celt in an English lesson.
PSHE – Gang Crime
The children in Year 6 have attended sessions this week based upon gang crime. The children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. They thought about choices, responsibility and the impact of their actions.
Judaism – Rosh Hashanah
The children in Year 6 tasted apples and honey as this reminds Jewish people of the sweet year ahead and the new beginning.
Year 4 Relay Racing
Over the past few weeks, Year 4 have been developing their ability to sprint in athletics. They have worked on their posture and how to use their arms to move at a faster, more powerful pace. They then applied these skills into team relay races. Mr Wilton and Miss Graham were extremely impressed with the children’s perseverance and in particular, their ability to revise the order of their team and decide which runners should be at the beginning and end of the race. Well done Year 4!
Year 4 DT
During the Spring Term, year four read ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin’ by Michael Morpurgo. They were challenged to design and make a warning system for the citizens of Hamelin town which would give a signal when rats were nearby.
The children explored different electrical systems and used this research to make their own. Many of the circuits did not work first time, meaning the children had to evaluate and consider what was causing the break in the circuit.
