Year 1 Imagine That
Objectives covered:
- asking simple questions and recognising that they can be answered in different ways
- observing closely, using simple equipment
- performing simple tests
- identifying and classifying
- using their observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions
- gathering and recording data to help in answering question
Year 5 – World Museum Visit Space and Self Led Visit
During the visit the children complete work relating to these objectives:
- To explain the movement of the Earth and other planets relative to the sun in the solar system.
- To explain the movement of the moon relative to the Earth.
- To explain the Sun, Earth and Moon as approximately spherical bodies.
- Use the idea of the Earth’s rotation to explain day and night and the apparent movement of the sun across the sky.
Year 5 – Walker Art Gallery
During the visit the children complete work relating to these objectives:
- To research and discuss the ideas and approaches of a various artists, craftspeople, designers and architects, taking account of their particular cultural context and intentions.
- To confidently use sketchbooks for a variety of purposes including: recording observations; developing ideas; testing materials; planning and recording information.
Year 3 – Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral
During the visit the children covered these objectives:
- Begin to understand that collage is a piece of art made by sticking various different materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric on to a backing.
- Stained glass is an art form in which coloured glass is cut into shapes and placed into a mosaic to form a picture.
- Religious buildings often have stained glass windows (visit St. Mary’s church for first hand observation).
Year 6 – Colomendy – Outdoor adventurous activities
Year 6 visited Kingswood Colomendy September 2021. Below is a list of the curriculum objectives covered whilst on this residential:
- Reflect on when and how I was successful at solving challenges, and alter my methods in order to improve.
- Work effectively with a partner and a small group, sharing ideas and agreeing on a team strategy.
- Use critical thinking to approach a task.
- Orientate and map.
- Navigate around a course using a map.
