Y4 First Holy Communion and Confirmation 27th May
Year 4 children who have attended the preparation sessions in church over the past months will make their First Communion and Confirmation on Friday, 27th May.
The children have been split into 2 groups and will attend Mass at 9.15am or 10.30am. They will also have their photograph taken in school and have a Communion breakfast after they have all received their Sacraments. Siblings who attend our school are welcome to join their families in church on this day.
Please bring your children to school as usual at 8.55am on Friday 27th, May and we will lead them all over to church together at their allocated time to join their families.
After the masses and refreshments in school, children are welcome to join their families at home for the rest of the day, siblings included.
We are all looking forward to sharing this special day with our Year 4 children and their families.
Children in Y4 who are not making their Communion and Confirmation should still come into school as normal on this day as they will also take part in the Mass and have refreshments afterwards.
Bags 2 School- return on Friday 20th May
We are pleased to announce that the school has organised a textile collection with Bag2School in order to raise funds for St John Fisher PTA
Bag2School are the UK’s leading textile recycler and fundraiser working with schools and since its inception in 2001 they have now paid out over £20 million.
As well as raising vitally needed funds for our school, it also helps the environment by helping to divert unwanted textiles away from landfill. A recent DEFRA report has shown that textile collection schemes are helping to reduce the volume of textiles discarded as municipal solid waste. However it is a fact that as a nation we still send 1,081,000 tonnes of textiles to landfill every year.
By getting involved in our Bag2School collection, you have an opportunity to sort through your cupboards and wardrobes and donate unwanted textiles in the bag provided – this can include adults’ and children’s clothes, shoes (tied together please), hats, belts, handbags and soft toys. Please note bedding, curtains, and household linen cannot be accepted (refer to www.bag2school.com for details). In addition to raising much needed funds it will also raise awareness amongst the children of the benefits of recycling and reuse.
If you fill the donation bag and still have more then you can use any other bag to donate your items and don’t forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a sort out as well!
Bag2School will be collecting from our school on Friday, 20th May Please bring your bag (or bags!) to School Hall and help us have a really good collection.
Many thanks indeed for helping us with this unique fundraising opportunity.
This Girl Can- Activity Timetable
Knowsley Council have sent us an activity timetable for girls activities (Some FREE), as part on a National public health campaign “This Girl Can” which aims to encourage girls and women to exercise and get active.
“This Girl Can is Sport England’s nationwide campaign to get women and girls moving, regardless of shape, size and ability
National research reveals a huge difference in the number of men and women playing sport. And it’s not because females don’t want to get active. Millions of women and girls are afraid to exercise because of fear of judgment.
Knowsley is no different to this. In addition Knowsley women and girls have identified that a lack of confidence, financial constraints, childcare and family life as well as work can get in the way of taking part. We hope this campaign can help Knowsley women and girls knock down the barriers and be inspired to get active, meet new friends, improve both body and mind and surprise themselves at what they can and have achieved.”
Please take a look and see if anything interests you.
