St John Fisher: Our Vision

At St John Fisher, we strive to create a school community where children and adults achieve their full potential and SHINE! We will achieve this through engagement, high expectations and by treating all with respect and dignity.

At St John Fisher Primary School, the physical and emotional wellbeing of our children is a priority. We place a great deal of importance on PHSE/ RSE personal development, wellbeing and citizenship as a Catholic school and it is embedded in our ethos and our Mission Statement.

“Believe in the Light so you can be children of the light”

Our Aims

We nurture and educate our pupils in order to help them develop the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to live happy, healthy and successful lives, now and in the future. Aspects of the curriculum are taught through a range of implicit and explicit learning opportunities and are embedded throughout the curriculum.  At St John Fisher Primary School we follow the PSHE Association Scheme which is a sequenced, spiral programme that builds on prior learning as pupils progress through school. We follow this scheme throughout the school which means each year group explores the same theme. Wider Opportunities is a curriculum that includes local and global issues that are pertinent to our school and local community (railway safety, knife crime etc). Objectives are covered during discrete lessons using resources from the following:

  • Association programme of study
  • RSE- Journey in Love
  • Wider Opportunities
  • Picture News
