Hello and welcome to our class.
In our class we have Mrs Mackey, Mrs D’Arcy, 8 girls, 18 boys and 10 goldfish.
We are enjoying building up our story vocabulary and having fun performing many great stories through our Talk 4 Writing sessions. Each term we listen to and learn a traditional tale, a poem and two stories from amazing children’s authors. We follow Pie Corbett’s Talk 4 Writing journey of Imitate, Innovate and Invent and have authored some fantastic stories of our own.
Our next Talk 4 Writing text is: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Our Summer Focus Texts include:
We are enjoying our daily Read Write Inc phonics sessions, and are now consolidating our set 1 and 2 sounds.
Here is a link to the Read Write Inc rhymes that are used to help children remember letter formation.
Every week we each have some tricky words to practice at home. These tricky words we have to learn to read by sight, as we can’t use our phonics knowledge to decode them. This is our class’ favourite tricky words song:
In Maths we are really developing our number sense, and love showing this through lots of practical ways and in our play. We practise our counting forwards and backwards daily, as well as honing our subitising skills through our ‘Daily Dotties’ game.
Our favourite Maths websites for songs and dances include:
In our class we are living our mission by being kind to all our new friends, sharing our toys and taking turns. Our smiles have welcomed new children to our class as well as visitors. We have been learning to say our school prayers at lunchtime and home times, and showing that we are respectful when talking to God and hearing his word during Collective Worship and our Come and See lessons. We are all trying our best to be shining lights.
“Believe in the light so that you will be children of the light.”
We have reading books that go home weekly, and Learning Packs, full of fun activities for the family, which are fortnightly. They are both due back in school on Thursdays.
